Kardigan
Steve McKerrall is an experienced medicinal chemistry leader currently serving as the Director of Medicinal Chemistry at Kardigan since April 2025. Previously, McKerrall held the same position at Altos Labs from March 2024 to April 2025 and at Septerna from January 2022 to March 2024, where notable achievements included leading the discovery of SEP-631, a MRGPRX2 negative allosteric modulator. McKerrall has also contributed to TSHR NAM programs and has a portfolio of co-invented research. Prior to these roles, McKerrall was a Principal Scientist and Chemistry Team Leader at Genentech, focusing on immunology and neuroscience projects. Earlier experience includes serving as a Senior Scientist at The Scripps Research Institute and receiving a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Scripps Research. The educational background includes a B.S. in Chemistry and Philosophy from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
