Fredrik Boulund has a diverse work experience in the field of bioinformatics and microbiome research. Fredrik has worked as a Head of Bioinformatics at the Center for Translational Microbiome Research (CTMR), where they led the development of internal shotgun metagenomics analysis workflows. Fredrik also served as a Joint Head of Operations at a SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic lab, where they played a crucial role in establishing a national-scale covid-19 diagnostics lab and expanding PCR-based testing in collaboration with various organizations. Additionally, Fredrik worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at CTMR, leading the bioinformatics team and developing analysis workflows. Prior to these roles, they held positions as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Chalmers University of Technology and a Researcher at Sahlgrenska Academy at Gothenburg University. Fredrik's expertise includes next-generation sequencing analysis, antibiotic resistance research, and high-throughput sequencing technologies. Fredrik also has experience in engineering as a Development Engineer at Getinge Infection Control AB.
Fredrik Boulund obtained a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from Chalmers University of Technology, which they completed between 2011 and 2015. Prior to this, they earned a Licentiate degree in Bioscience from the same university between 2011 and 2013. Fredrik also holds a Master of Science degree in Bioinformatics & Systems Biology, completed from Chalmers University of Technology from 2009 to 2010. In addition to their technical education, they have also received training in leadership, logistics, food handling, and tactics from Lv6, Swedish Armed Forces in 2005 and leadership training from Halmstad University in the same year.
