Ted Zoller

Senior Fellow (current) and Vice President (former) at Kauffman Foundation

Ted Zoller has an extensive work experience in the field of entrepreneurship and business. Ted is currently serving as the Executive Director of the Carolina Angel Network since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at UNC Kenan-Flagler since 2005, where they held the position of T.W. Lewis Distinguished Clinical Scholar and Professor. In this role, they taught new venture creation and entrepreneurial acceleration and leadership programs and played a key role in initiating various entrepreneurial programs.

From 2011, Zoller also held positions at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, starting as Vice President and currently serving as a Senior Fellow. Additionally, they founded and served as the Principal of Commonweal, LLC since 2007.

Zoller has been actively involved in various organizations within the entrepreneurship community. Ted served as a Member of the Board of Advisors at CREO, Inc. since 2017 and as the Past President of the United States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship starting from 2015. Ted has also contributed to the UNC General Alumni Association as a Faculty Representative on the Board of Directors from 2019 to 2021.

Furthermore, Zoller has been associated with the Carolina Angel Network and Romr. Ted served as a Member of the Board of Directors at the Carolina Angel Network from 2017 to 2021 and as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Founder of Romr from 2015 to 2020.

Lastly, Zoller played a significant role at the UNC Entrepreneurship Center at Kenan-Flagler Business School as the Director from 2005 to 2020.

Ted Zoller's education history begins in 1979 when they graduated from Mynderse Academy with a New York Regent's Diploma in the Honors/Regents High School/Secondary Diploma Program. From 1983 to 1987, they attended William & Mary and earned a BA degree with a major in Government and English. In 1988, they pursued a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree at Syracuse University's Maxwell School, specializing in Public Administration. In 1994 and 1995, they attended the University of Virginia, where they obtained an MA degree in Economic Development. Lastly, from 1998 to 2010, they attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where they earned a PhD in Entrepreneurship.
