Lydia Kontos is an accomplished arts administrator with extensive experience in leadership and education. As Executive Director Emeritus of Kaufman Music Center since June 1980, Lydia has held multiple pivotal roles, including Executive Director and Director of Merkin Hall. From 1992 to 1995, Lydia was an Instructor in General Management in the Arts at the State University of New York at Purchase. Earlier in their career, Lydia taught English, Spanish, and Anthropology at Garden School from 1972 to 1978. Lydia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology from Hunter College and has completed a certificate in Not for Profit Management at Harvard University, with additional studies at New York University and Merton College, Oxford University.
