Mark Scott

Principal, Estate & Trust at Kaufman, Rossin & Co.

Mark Scott is a leader in Kaufman Rossin’s estate and trust practice. He specializes in creating and implementing intricate estate planning strategies for clients in various industries.

In addition to developing estate plans, Mark provides clients with gift tax planning, trust tax planning, and estate and gift tax return examination services. He enjoys the sophisticated challenges offered in the nonresident noncitizen and offshore trust planning regimes. Before joining the firm in 2000, he practiced estate, trust and tax law in Boca Raton.

He is a member of The Florida Bar and served on its continuing legal education committee. Mark is also a director for The Florida Bar Tax Section, and serves as a Member of its executive council and is co-director of the long range planning committee. In addition, he is a past president of the Greater Miami Tax Institute, and president elect of the Estate Planning Council of Greater Miami. Moreover, Mark was the co-chair of the 7th Annual Joint Tax and Estate Planning Seminar, benefiting the Community Foundation, the Jewish Community Foundation, and the United Way all located in Broward County.

Active in the community, Mark is the audit committee chair on The Miami Foundation’s board of trustees. He also advises the foundation’s LGBT Community Fund committee. He is a member of the Mount Sinai Medical Center’s Young Founders and served on the Young Presidents’ board of directors. Mark was honored in the inaugural South Florida Business Journal Business of Pride awards.

He is an adjunct professor at the University of Miami’s School of Law, teaching the federal income taxation of trusts and estates in the school’s graduate program in taxation.
