Debra R. Velez has extensive experience in construction management and facilities planning. Debra R. first worked as an Interior Designer at Potter Lawson, Inc. from 1999 to 2001, where they designed interior finish concepts for educational and corporate facilities. Debra R. then worked at Flad & Associates as an Interior Designer from 2001 to 2003, where they programmed and space planned building blocking and stacking diagrams. At American TV and Appliances, Inc., they served as a Project Manager for Store Planning and Design from 2003 to 2007. In this role, they prepared and designed remodel and new construction documentation, negotiated costs, and reviewed construction shop drawings. Debra R. then joined Health Care Service Corporation (BCBS IL, NM, OK, TX) in 2007 as a Senior Manager in Facilities Planning and Design. During their time there, they oversaw move and change activities, managed occupancy planning and space utilization standards, and developed furniture and finish standards. Finally, Debra worked at KDC Real Estate Development & Investments as the Vice President of Construction Management starting in 2014.
Debra R. Velez obtained their Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Technical Theatre Arts, Design, and Construction from Millikin University, where they studied from 1991 to 1995. Debra R. then pursued further education in the field of design and completed a professional studies program in Interior Design at The Illinois Institute of Art from 1997 to 1999. In 2006, Debra acquired a Masters Certification in Project Management from the Wisconsin School of Business.
