Karen Smith

Karen Smith has a diverse work experience spanning various institutions and roles. Karen began their career as a Reporter at The Times of Trenton in 2001 and worked there until 2005. Karen then joined The Dallas Morning News as an Education Reporter from 2005 to 2008, before becoming the Breaking News Editor from 2008 to 2009. Karen also served as an Adjunct Professor at The University of Texas at Arlington in 2008. Karen subsequently joined Rutgers University, where they held roles such as Writer/Editor from 2009 to 2011, Assistant Director from 2011 to 2016, and Senior Director from 2016 to 2017. Currently, Karen is employed at Kean University, where they started as the Vice President of University Relations in 2017 and recently transitioned to the position of Vice President of University Relations and Alumni Affairs in February 2022.

Karen Smith has a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Northwestern University. Karen also has a Master's degree in Communication from The University of Texas at Arlington. Additionally, they have completed a Web Developer Program at Adobe Software Learning School and Tutoring.
