Kearney Public Schools is located in central Nebraska serving a population of approximately 5,500 students, birth to age 21.  KPS has one high school, two middle schools, ten elementary schools and one preschool building. KPS has a Kearney Community Learning Center (an afterschool program), which is available at most elementary schools and Sunrise middle school sites.

The Education Team at Kearney Public Schools is responsible for overseeing the educational and developmental progress of students from preschool through high school. Comprised primarily of principals alongside specialized teachers, this team ensures that the curriculum addresses academic, social-emotional, and personal health needs while fostering critical thinking, communication, and creativity. They work collaboratively to create a safe, supportive learning environment and tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students, preparing them to become engaged citizens and compassionate individuals.
