Nicole E. Cloyd

Nicole Cloyd practices in the firm’s Business Representation & Transactions Group and Intellectual Property Group, where she assists individuals and businesses on a broad range of intellectual property and technology transactions matters, including but not limited to trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and issues related to privacy and data security.

In particular, Nicole regularly advises clients on the ever-changing data privacy laws, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). In this capacity, she helps businesses in various stages of growth develop and maintain privacy compliance programs. She is a member of the firm’s Cybersecurity & Privacy Team and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Nicole earned her Master of Laws degree in Intellectual Property from Texas A&M University School of Law in 2021, where she gained experience working with clients at the Trademark and Copyright Clinic. Nicole earned her J.D. from the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law in 2019. She was the online content manager of the Kentucky Law Journal, as well as a member of the Moot Court National Team.

While in law school, Nicole gained hands-on experience in copyright law as a Law Clerk for the Office of the General Counsel at the United States Copyright Office in Washington, D.C.
