D. Scott Borden, PhD

D. Scott Borden, PhD has a diverse career in the outdoor industry. In 2007, they began their career as a Mentor Teacher at NatureBridge. D. Scott then moved to The Climbing Zine in 2007 as an Adventure Writer. In 2013, they took on the role of Director of Marketing at Haven Banks Outdoor Education Center. From 2014 to 2015, they were an Adjunct Lecturer & Researcher in Business Management & Social Marketing at the University of Exeter. From 2016 to 2019, they held two positions at Western Colorado University as Graduate Faculty in the Masters in Environmental Management Programs & MBA in Outdoor Industry and Marketing Coordinator for the Center for Environment and Sustainability. In 2015, they also became a Benefit Director & Member of the Board of Directors at Keene Advisors, Inc. Finally, in 2022, they will become an Assistant Professor of Business and Outdoor Industries Program at the University of Arkansas.

D. Scott Borden, PhD obtained their Bachelor of Arts from Western Colorado University between 2000 and 2005. D. Scott then obtained their Master of Arts from Prescott College between 2005 and 2007. In 2016, they received an Associate Fellow certification from the Higher Education Academy. D. Scott also obtained a Wilderness First Responder- Medicine certification from NOLS Wilderness Medicine in 2001. Finally, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Business Administration and Management, Social Marketing from the University of Exeter between 2014 and 2017.
