Ashton Powell

Ashton Powell currently serves as a Trainer at Outlier AI and a Wilderness Canoe Instructor at the Keewaydin Foundation, with previous experience as a Board of Education Member for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. Ashton held the position of College Advisor at Emerson Waldorf School and was an Instructor of Biology at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, where significant contributions included serving as President of the Faculty Senate and a member of the Board of Trustees. Early career roles included Educational Consultant for Backyard Brains, Faculty Associate for the UNC Center for Genomics and Society, and Trainee at the Carolina Center for Genomics and Society. Notable fellowship experiences include serving as a Mirzayan Science and Technology Fellow at The National Academies and the National Academy of Sciences. Chelsea obtained a PhD in Neurobiology from the UNC School of Medicine and a BA in Neuroscience from Colorado College.
