Riitta Luoto

Riitta Luoto serves as the Medical Director of Research at Kela since December 2020 and is the founder of Fimedin Oy, an enterprise focused on epidemiological-medical insurance education and consulting, established in May 2024. Additionally, Riitta has held the position of Asiantuntijalääkäri at Pohjola Vakuutus since May 2018, contributing expertise in various insurance types. An active scientific writer for the Finnish Medical Association Duodecim since 2004, Riitta also holds an adjunct professorship in epidemiology at the University of Tampere. Previous roles include Chief Physician at Kela's Medical Advisory Unit from 2016 to 2020 and Research Director at the UKK Institute for Health Promotion from 2003 to 2015. With extensive experience in public health, Riitta earned a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the University of Helsinki and possesses multiple specialized degrees in health and medical fields.
