Adam Smith, PhD, MSBE has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry and rare disease companies. Adam has held various leadership roles, including Vice President of Business Development and Commercial Operations at Zevra Therapeutics, where they utilized data-driven strategies to overcome drug development challenges. Prior to that, Adam served as Vice President of Scientific Affairs and Senior Director of Research at KemPharm, where they played a major role in multiple approved NDAs and INDs. Adam also has experience as an Associate Director of Preclinical Science and a Senior Scientist. Adam has a strong academic background, having served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of South Florida and as a Graduate Research Assistant in Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology. Additionally, they have worked as a Scientific Consultant for FLORIDA SPINE INSTITUTE, Cell Science Systems, and Life Science Solutions, LLC. Adam began their career as a Naval Research Enterprise Intern at the US Navy Experimental Diving Unit.
Adam Smith, PhD, MSBE completed their undergraduate education at the University of South Florida - College of Arts & Sciences, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biomedical Sciences from 2005 to 2007. Adam then pursued further studies at the same institution, obtaining a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of South Florida - College of Engineering between 2007 and 2008. Following this, they continued their education at the University of South Florida - College of Medicine, earning a PhD in Pharmacology and Neuroscience from 2007 to 2012. Additionally, Adam Smith also obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Medical Sciences from the University of South Florida - College of Medicine during the period of 2009 to 2010.
