Sonya Y. Williams

Sonya Y. Williams serves as the Executive Director of Upward Bound & University Outreach and Engagement in the Office of the Provost at Kent State University since January 2013. With a diverse professional background, Sonya Y. Williams has held various roles including Project Operations Coordinator and Special Assistant to the Vice President of University Relations. Additionally, Sonya Y. Williams served as Interim Executive Director for the Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from January 2017 to August 2020, and worked as Project Director at the Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Prior to joining Kent State University, Sonya Y. Williams directed the Foster Grandparent Program at Akron Summit Community Action Agency, Inc. Sonya Y. Williams holds a Bachelor of Arts in Rhetorical Speaking and Communication from Kent State University and a Master of Arts from The University of Akron.
