Wairimu Maringa is an accomplished professional currently serving as a DEIJ scholar at O'Reilly since June 2023, awarded the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice scholarship for underrepresented communities in technology. With a robust background in software engineering acquired through a project-based bootcamp at alx_africa, Wairimu also contributed to vaccine preventable diseases surveillance and pathogen genomics at the University of the Free State from September 2019 to November 2021. Wairimu's early experiences include internships at Kenya Marine and Fisheries Institute and Kenya Medical Research Institute, along with serving as a student representative at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. Academic credentials include a Master of Medical Science in Virology from the University of the Free State and a Bachelor's degree in Genomic Science from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
