Chepkwony Patricia

Chepkwony Patricia is a highly experienced educator and leader in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation. Currently serving as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Kabianga since January 2012, Chepkwony also holds the position of Innovations Champion at the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) and Director of the Marketing & Centre for Professional Studies and Short Courses at the University of Kabianga. Additional roles include Chairperson of the Audit Committee for the County Assembly of Kericho and Director of Strategy and Innovation at Lelmolok Nursing Home, which focuses on affordable healthcare. As the founder of the Soma Dada Initiative, Chepkwony promotes literacy and mentorship within the community. Chepkwony holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Entrepreneurship from Maseno University, a Fellowship in Business and Entrepreneurship from Dartmouth College, an MBA in Entrepreneurship from Kenyatta University, and a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Moi University.

Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA)

The Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) is a State Corporation established under the Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Act, No. 28 of 2013 under the Ministry of Education. The core mandate of the Agency is to develop and manage the National Innovation Ecosystem. The Agency is therefore responsible for co-ordination, promotion and regulation of the National Innovation Ecosystem. Working with partners, KeNIA strengthens interrelationships between actors in order to promote innovation and enterprise development out of research and ideas. From supporting the identification, recording and protection of innovative ideas to coordinating the establishment and implementation of appropriate policies, standards, processes, infrastructure, and partnerships to nurture the innovative ideas. The agency also works with partners to ensure appropriate prioritization, relevant capacity development, innovation recognition and publication of the same.
