Nick Carne

Director Delivery, Energy Transition at Keolis Downer

Nick Carne has over 30 years of work experience, starting in 1991 as an Apprentice at AWE. Nick then worked at JR Pridham Services Ltd, where they held various roles including Systems Group Technician, Senior Telemetry Engineer, and Systems Group Manager. During their time at JR Pridham Services Ltd, they managed a portfolio of control, automation, and systems integration projects across the UK and Europe.

In 2015, Carne joined Universal Communications Group as the Construction Manager for NSW & ACT, overseeing the construction delivery of the NBNCo. Brownfield MDU & SDU rollout. Nick later became the National Delivery Manager, responsible for program delivery at Bespoke and Greenfield sites across Australia, as well as managing relationships with stakeholders including NBNCo. and contractor delivery partners. Carne was also the National Program Manager, handling HFC projects for multiple clients on the NBNCo. and Telstra rollouts.

In 2018, Carne joined Downer as the Service Delivery Manager for Technology & Communication Services. Nick was responsible for NBNCo Deployment on Demand projects in NSW and ACT, including process and PMO development and governance, sub-contract negotiation and management, client relationship management, and project P&L. Nick also served as the Project Manager for New Energy, enabling the rollout of infrastructure to support Zero Emissions Buses (ZEBs) across Australia, including EV charging infrastructure design and construction at multiple depots.

Currently, Carne is the Director of Delivery, Energy Transition at Keolis Downer, where they oversee the transition to sustainable energy solutions.

Nick Carne obtained their ONC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Newbury Technical College in 1993. Nick further pursued their education at the same institution and received an HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 1995. In 1996, they completed their education at Newbury Technical College by earning an HND in Electronic Engineering & Data Communications. Following this, in 2009, they attended the University of Reading and achieved a CertHE degree in Management. In 2010, they enrolled at Henley Business School and obtained a Master's Degree in Applied Management, which they completed in 2013. Later, in 2013, they attended Knowledge Academy and acquired the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification. Currently, in 2022, Nick Carne is undertaking a Diploma in Project Management at Opportune Professional Development, which is expected to be completed in 2023.
