Robert Anderson

EVP, HR & Safety at Keolis Transit America

Robert Anderson is the Executive Vice President of Human Resources, Safety and Organization for Keolis North America. Robert has over 6 years of experience in this role, and is responsible for providing strategic advice to Executive Team members and senior management on a wide range of people and organization issues. Prior to joining Keolis, Robert was with Yarra Trams for 6 years 8 months, where they held various roles including Director of Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness, Manager of Talent and Organizational Development, and Organizational Development Manager. In these roles, they were responsible for system design and implementation for organizational effectiveness, personal effectiveness, talent acquisition and onboarding, and talent identification and development. Robert also implemented the Yarra Trams Leadership Framework, which included coordinating programs to increase managerial capability, facilitating induction into the framework, and providing ongoing coaching and advice to managers in its application. Additionally, Robert provided advice and monitoring in organizational restructures and system design, and advised on a wide range of people and organization issues.

Upon the successful award of the Melbourne Metropolitan Tram network franchise to Keolis, Robert's role adjusted to focus on the mobilisation and migration of the franchise. Key accountabilities in this role included management of the Human Resources transition team/stream, successful and seamless transition and integration of over 2000 employees from 4 different employers to a single entity, consultation with recognised trade unions to ensure no industrial unrest through the transition, implementation of the transition plan (including employee franchise induction), and coordination of all employee communications to ensure an integrated and comprehensive approach. Additionally, Robert was responsible for due diligence to identify, quantify and mitigate people-related risks, as well as offers of employment and payroll mapping for over 2000 employees.

Following the successful tendering of the Melbourne Metropolitan Train network franchise to Keolis Downer EDI Rail (KDR), Robert became the HR lead for the tender. In this role, they were responsible for developing a vertically and horizontally integrated 15 year Human Resources strategy and associated deployment plan. This involved consultation with recognised trade unions in order to manage relationships and position KDR Victoria for success. Additionally, Robert was responsible for financial forecasting of labour costs for 10 years, including modeling of changes to labour costs through potential business initiatives. Finally, they were the Keolis lead for the Sydney Metro Expression of Interest.

Robert Anderson has a Master of Arts from Kingston University in Human Resources Management and a BSc from the University of Surrey in Sociology.
