Keith Babbs has diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries.
Starting in 1994, they worked as a Graphic Design Artist on a freelance basis until 2000. In 1998, they also served as a Teacher, specializing in math and science subjects for 4th and 5th-grade students at Killeen ISD.
From 2000 to 2003, Keith had a different career path as a Deputy at the Faulkner County Sheriff Department. During this time, they received training as a first responder and developed focus in high-stress and life-threatening situations.
In 2004, they transitioned to a Graduate Research Assistant position in Cardiovascular Biology at the University of Central Arkansas. Keith'sresearch focused on investigating the roles of estrogen metabolites in cardioprotection. Keith also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, primarily in biology laboratories.
Keith continued their academic pursuits at Penn State University, where they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant on investigating the physiology of binge eating in a rat model. Keith utilized various techniques, such as stereotaxic surgery, in vivo microdialysis, and immunohistochemistry.
In 2012, Keith joined Yale School of Medicine as a Postdoctoral Fellow, where they conducted further research until 2015.
Afterwards, they moved to The John B. Pierce Laboratory, Inc. and worked as a Postdoctoral Associate. Keith'sresearch at this institution involved studying the interaction between metabolic response to flavored sugary beverages and neural responses, as well as examining the effects of oxytocin on feeding behavior.
In 2016, Keith joined Boston University School of Medicine as a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow in Pharmacology. Keith'swork in this role involved using genetic and behavioral techniques to gain insights into addiction, rare genetic diseases, and disordered eating. Keith also implemented new behavioral techniques, oversaw equipment selection and installation, and trained staff.
Keith's most recent experience was at Keros Therapeutics, where they held the positions of In Vivo Scientist and Senior Scientist. Keith contributed to the research and development of therapeutics, with a particular focus on in vivo studies.
Overall, Keith has demonstrated a strong background in research, with a focus on addiction, genetics, metabolism, and neural responses across various academic and industry settings.
Keith Babbs has an extensive education history. Keith began their academic journey in 1993 at the University of Central Arkansas, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education, which they completed in 1998. Following this, Babbs pursued further studies at the same university and earned a Master of Science degree in Biology, General, which they completed in 2007. Babbs continued their education at Penn State University, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physiology, General in 2012. Subsequently, they went on to complete a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neuroscience/Psychology/Psychiatry at Yale University from 2012 to 2015. The chronology of their education reflects a progression from a bachelor's degree in Education to increasingly specialized degrees in the fields of biology, physiology, and ultimately neuroscience.
