Joshua Shrager has held various roles in the public and private sectors. From 2007 to 2012, they worked at the U.S. Department of the Treasury in a variety of positions, including Deputy Financial Attaché to Saudi Arabia, Intelligence Specialist, Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, Office of Illicit Finance, Co-Lead/Treasury Director of the Iraq Threat Finance Cell, and Intelligence Specialist, Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, Middle East Affairs. In 2007, they also worked as a Consultant for FHI 360. From 2012 to 2015, they worked as a Vice Consul and Foreign Service Officer for the U.S. Department of State. From 2016 to 2018, they were the Director of Client Services/Success at Quid. Since 2020, they have been an Adjunct Professor at American University School of International Service, teaching a Master's level course on Sanctions, Terrorist Financing, and Financial Crime. Most recently, they have been a Senior Vice President at Kharon since 2018.
Joshua Shrager attended Mt Lebanon Senior High School before earning a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Michigan in 2004. During their time at the University of Michigan, they also participated in the International Honors Program in Nepal & Tibet in 2002 and studied at the University of Cape Town in 2003.
