John Buice has held various roles throughout their work experience. John started their career in 2001 as a Sales Representative at Toby's Bait & Tackle. John then worked as an Electrician at BNC Electrical in 2003 and as an Assembly Line Worker at Behr in 2004. In the same year, they joined the Kiawah Island Community Association (KICA) as a Security/CSA, responsible for controlling access to the island and enforcing rules and regulations. In 2007, they became the Encroachment Permit Coordinator at KICA, managing permits for construction activities. John then progressed to the roles of Security Supervisor and Assistant Director of Security, where they supervised a team, provided on-the-scene supervision during emergencies, and ensured the enforcement of laws and policies. Since 2016, they have been serving as the Assistant Director of Security at KICA.
John Buice attended James Island High School from 2000 to 2003. John did not obtain a degree or specialize in any field of study during this time. Additionally, in December 2014, they obtained a certification as a SLED Level 1 Trainer from SLED Level 2&3 Trainer institution.

Kiawah Island Community Association (KICA) is a nationally recognized community association responsible for preserving the quality of life on Kiawah Island for those that own property on the island. The Kiawah Island Community Association exists to preserve and enhance the quality of life and property values of its members. It accomplishes this by providing a framework to establish and enforce community expectations and standards; by undertaking and implementing strategic and operational planning; and by leading the staff of well-trained employees who are committed to quality service. Through its programs and services, the association plays a leadership role in ensuring that Kiawah Island is a beautiful, safe, well-maintained and friendly community. All property owners become members of the Kiawah Island Community Association (KICA) upon purchase of their property.
