KIC Ventures is a private healthtech investment firm specializing in innovative medical device technologies, particularly in spine surgery. Conceived in 2000 while Dr. Kingsley R. Chin was an orthopedic resident at Harvard Medical School, KIC LLC was officially registered in 2005 during his time at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn). In 2013, KIC Ventures was established as the venture arm of KIC, accelerating innovation and commercialization in healthcare technology. Our portfolio companies have generated over $300 million in revenue and grown to a combined value exceeding $1 billion. Notable successes include the sale of the MANTIS percutaneous spinal system to Stryker, a significant contributor to Stryker’s spine market success. With a strong focus on spinal solutions, KIC Ventures has driven the growth of companies like Axiomed, known for its viscoelastic disc replacements, and NanoFuse, which uniquely combines 45S5 Bioglass synthetic biologics with demineralized bone matrix (DBM). NANISX, another key company, is leading the ambulatory surgery center (ASC) market, introducing differentiated technologies like InSpan, Sacrix, and FacetFuse within the Less Exposure Spine Surgery (LESS) portfolio. Under the leadership of Dr. Kingsley R.
