Kickstand Comedy
Kristen Schier is an experienced educational programs manager currently at Kickstand Comedy since February 2022. Previously, Kristen held multiple roles at Curious Comedy Theater from September 2018 to February 2023, including instructor and co-artistic director. Kristen's teaching experience extends to The University of the Arts as an adjunct professor in acting for non-majors from January 2014 to September 2018, and at Philly Improv Theater as an actor, improviser, and teacher from August 2012 to September 2018. Additionally, Kristen served as a standardized patient at Thomas Jefferson University from September 2009 to September 2016. Kristen holds a BFA in Theater Arts from the University of the Arts, earned between 1996 and 2000.

Curated live comedy with a focus on quality, community, and unique voices. We’re a non-profit, all-inclusive space for Portland’s comedy scene to perform, collaborate, and learn. We strive to break down the barriers to seeing and doing comedy and help make PDX comedy inclusive and undeniable! Expect funny people, unique voices, weird sh*t, and affordable classes and shows. MISSION: To transform and enrich the lives of performers and audiences through comedy. We address the ongoing needs of the community and its diverse perspectives through dynamic shows and community outreach events—creating equity across our organization and beyond while providing opportunities for performance, education, and laughter. VISION: A thriving, diverse, equitable and representational comedy scene that compensates performers, and establishes Kickstand and its fans as an iconic institution in the Pacific Northwest.
