Melissa Orizondo

Melissa Orizondo currently serves as a Senior Attorney at Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), having held various roles within the organization since December 2019, including positions focused on the Central American Minor (CAM) Program, family reunification, and detained programs. Prior experience includes serving as Counsel at Caldwell Boudreaux Lefler PLLC and as an Associate at Faegre Baker Daniels LLP. Melissa's legal career began as a Certified Legal Intern at Indiana University Student Legal Services, followed by roles as a Law Clerk and Summer Associate at Faegre Baker Daniels LLP and McEwan Martinez & Dukes, Inc., respectively. Additionally, Melissa gained experience in political organizing with Obama for America and completed internships with the White House Office of Communications and the US-UK Fulbright Commission. Educational credentials include a Juris Doctor degree from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Indiana University Bloomington.
