Prof. Stephen Redmond is an Associate Professor at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at University College Dublin (UCD) and an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering at The University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia.
He completed his Bachelor of (Electronic) Engineering at University College Dublin, Ireland, in 2002. He also completed his Ph.D. in biosignal processing at the same institute, in 2006. His primary research interests revolve around the application of signal processing and pattern recognition techniques to solve or understand biomedical engineering problems, particularly in the areas of wearable sensors for fall detection and prevention, telehealth for chronic disease management, and tactile physiology and sensing. He has co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles across these various fields of research. He spent 10 years at UNSW before returning to UCD in 2018 to lead a Science Foundation Ireland President of Ireland Future Research Leaders program on the topic of tactile sensing.
