King Oscar is a leading global seafood company. In 1902 King Oscar of Norway tasted our sardines.  He was so impressed that he gave us his name. Since that day, we have continued to bring the highest quality, king-worthy seafood to the plates of the world.

King Oscar is the number one premium sardine brand in the USA, Norway, and Australia, while its mackerel line is number one in Poland. Sardines have always been King Oscar’s flagship product. Our award-winning seafood favorites also include cod liver, herring, tuna and a selection of specialty fish. 

King Oscar is part of Thai Union Group, a global seafood leader and the world’s largest tuna producer. Today we are more than 400 people working for King Oscar all around the globe. Our headquarter is in Bergen situated at the west coast of Norway, but King Oscar has key business offices in the United States and Poland.

1873: Founded in Stavanger, Norway.
1902: Granted royal permission to use King Oscar II´s name and likeness.
1903: Launched in the US, where it would become well-established by 1920.
1913: Launched in Australia.
1965: Launched in Japan.
1998-2001: Launched in Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia.
2014: King Oscar part of Thai Union Group.
2016: King Oscar launched in Thailand.
2017: King Oscar launched in China (Shanghai). Frozen shrimp, salmon, lobsters.
