Selim is co-founder of Gemcorp Group and Partner of Gemcorp Capital LLP based in London.
Gemcorp Capital, established in 2014, provides capital to growth-focused corporates and sovereign entities in emerging markets. It has invested over USD 6bn in self-originated credit and equity transactions since inception.
Gemcorp Commodities Trading, established in 2016, offers funding and supply chain solutions to corporate and sovereign clients across the physical commodities markets – agricultural and food markets, refining and oils, precious metals, and non-commodity procurement services.
Gemcorp Energy, established in 2019, focuses on delivering local solutions to help meet Africa’s energy needs, currently developing two state-of-the art modular oil refineries in Africa.
Prior to co-founding Gemcorp, Selim had 20 years of investment banking experience, specialising in emerging markets.
He was Managing Director responsible for client coverage in the CEEMEA region at Deutsche Bank.
He also had similar positions as Managing Director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London as well as Managing Director at Goldman Sachs. He began his career at Merrill Lynch in New York in 1991, and relocated to London in 1996.
Selim has extensive transactional experience where product scope included debt, equity, commodities and related derivatives. In addition, he was board member of DD Mortgage, a mortgage lender started up by Deutsche Bank in Turkey (2008-09), and he was Supervisory Board member of Deutsche Bank Polska, the Deutsche Bank subsidiary in Poland (2006-09).
Selim holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania and a M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
