Karl Houseknecht has a diverse work experience in the insurance industry. Karl started their career at Colonial Indemnity Insurance Company as a Senior Statutory Accountant, where they were responsible for preparing and filing statutory Annual and Quarterly Statements. Karl then moved to Frontier Insurance Group, where they served as an Assistant Manager of Reinsurance Accounting and Administration, handling various reinsurance accounting tasks.

Afterward, Houseknecht joined Liberty Mutual Insurance Group Regional Agency Markets (Peerless Ins Co) as an Assistant Manager of Reinsurance Accounting and Administration. Here, they designed accounting systems for assumption and cession of personal lines business and managed ceded claim run-offs.

Houseknecht then joined Commercial Mutual Insurance Company as the Chief Financial Officer and Director. In this role, they oversaw financial operations and played a pivotal role in the company's financial decision-making.

Later, Houseknecht joined Kingstone Insurance Company as a Controller. Karl was responsible for managing accounting department units and preparing internal and external financial reports. Karl Houseknecht completed an Associate of Applied Science degree in Architectural Technology at Dutchess Community College from 1976 to 1978. Karl then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting at State University of New York at Plattsburgh from 1978 to 1980.
