Partner and Lead Operating Partner at Kingswood Capital Management

James is a Partner and Kingswood’s lead Operating Partner and responsible for business strategy and operations at Kingswood’s portfolio companies. He works closely with the firm’s investment team, network of Operating Executives and portfolio company executive management to drive strategic initiatives and to recruit and deploy operating resources. James spent nearly a decade as a senior member of the Cerberus Operations and Advisory Company, where he was responsible for governance and oversight of Cerberus Capital Management-controlled portfolio companies in the healthcare services, biotech, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and media industries.

James most recently served as the Founder and CEO of Capital Leaps, an operations and advisory group serving middle-market private equity firms. Prior to that, he was the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Steward Heath Care System, the nation’s largest for-profit hospital network with over $8 billion in annual revenues; his management responsibilities included controller, corporate finance, reimbursement, supply chain and decision support.

Prior to his time at the Cerberus Operations and Advisory Company, James served as a Corporate Vice President and Chief Restructuring Officer at MCI Communications/WorldCom. In that role, he was a member of the executive team that led the restructuring and sale to Verizon Communications.

James holds a Bachelor of Science from Princeton University and a MBA from Duke University.
