Ashley Ogbonna

Director of Student Policy & Title IX Coordinator at KIPP DC Public Schools

Ashley Ogbonna joined KIPP DC in July 2022 as Director of Student Policy. She is originally from Dallas, Texas where she attended school in both the best and the worst performing school districts in Dallas County. This experience solidified her path to pursue making education equitable. She is a two-time HBCU graduate, receiving her B.A. from Spelman College, and her J.D. from Southern University Law Center. She also earned an LL.M. in Education Law and Policy from American University, Washington College of Law. Prior to joining KIPP DC, Ashley served as a Senior Attorney at the U.S. Department of Education investigating schools for misconduct, which resulted in student loan forgiveness for borrowers who were misled. In her free time, Ashley enjoys helping to equip communities with the legal tools to advocate for themselves, experiencing new restaurants, attending plays, international travel, and fashion.
