Denise Thames is an experienced education professional with a diverse background in special education and organizational leadership. Currently serving as a Special Education Learning Specialist and Case Manager at KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools since February 2020, Denise has previously held the position of Department Chairperson in the DeKalb County School District from August 2014 to February 2020, focusing on special education leadership. Prior experience includes roles as an educator in various school districts from 2010 to 2013 and as an Executive Director/Leader at major non-profits from 1995 to 2009, where oversight, human resources, and resource development were key responsibilities.
