Nyisha Nelson

Nyisha Nelson is an experienced educator with a diverse background in special education and administrative roles. Currently serving as the Assistant Principal of Scholar Support at KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools since June 2016, Nyisha communicates effectively with school stakeholders, coaches special education teachers, and provides professional development to enhance teaching capacities. Previous roles include Dean of Scholar Support and Special Education Teacher, where responsibilities involved managing compliance, supporting behavior interventions, and collaborating with teachers on IEP implementation. Nyisha's earlier career includes positions at Mainstay Academy, First Option, Bright Star Christian Academy, U.S. Space & Rocket Center, and Lake City Elementary School, showcasing a strong commitment to student achievement and development. Educational qualifications include an Educational Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Master of Arts in Teaching Special Education from Liberty University, along with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Clayton State University.
