Lauren Holifield is the Director of Literacy and Mathematics for grades K-2 and a proud Philadelphia native. She graduated with a BA in Communications from St. John’s University and returned to school to earn her teacher certification and MA in Multicultural Education from Eastern University. Lauren taught kindergarten and 3rd grade in other schools across the city before making KIPP Philadelphia Elementary Academy her home in 2014. During her time there, she served as a Lead Kindergarten teacher, Liberty Teacher Fellow Coach, and Interim Assistant Principal. She was awarded the Star Teacher Award (current Connie Clayton Award) in 2017. She transferred to KIPP West Philadelphia Elementary Academy in 2019 as an Assistant Principal of Instruction, where she supported Kindergarten and Specials. Lauren is a third-generation educator, passionate about supporting the growth of their youngest leaders. She is honored to work alongside elementary school leaders across KIPP Philadelphia to ensure that literacy and math content is rigorous, accessible, and culturally relevant to all of their kindergarten through second-grade KIPPsters.
