Diana Villa Rodriguez has extensive experience in the field of education and college counseling. Diana began their career in 2011 as a Counseling Intern at Camino Nuevo High School, where they worked closely with seniors to help them navigate the college application process. Diana provided support in filling out applications, exploring majors, reviewing financial aid packages, and making decisions. Diana also worked intensively with a small group of students with learning differences, providing extra assistance and regular progress check-ins.
In 2011, Diana joined Paramount Unified School District as a Counseling Assistant. In this role, they supported a large elementary school by contributing ideas, planning new program efforts, and working with students, staff, and parents. Diana actively participated in the school's conflict management program and ran a social skills group for at-risk second and third grade students.
Since 2012, Diana has been with KIPP SoCal Public Schools, where they have held various roles. As a High school placement advisor, they assisted 8th grade students in applying and transferring to college prep high schools. Diana also supported 9th grade students from high schools across the LA region, ensuring they stayed on track to graduate and pursue college education. Diana developed curriculum for 7th and 8th graders focused on finding the right match and developing character traits. Diana then transitioned into the role of College Advisor, providing direct advising and programming for students. Subsequently, Diana served as the College Match Manager, overseeing the college matching process. Their most recent role at KIPP SoCal Public Schools is as the Associate Director of College Match, where they have been responsible for postsecondary success and career development.
With their diverse experience in college counseling and education, Diana Villa Rodriguez has developed a strong skill set in guiding students through the college application process and supporting their academic journey.
Diana Villa Rodriguez obtained a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in School Counseling from the University of Southern California from 2010 to 2012. Prior to that, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach between 2007 and 2009.
