David Gorgani

Risk Director, Impact Investments at Kiva

David Gorgani has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. David has worked as a Risk Director and Senior Risk Manager in Impact Investments at Kiva, where they focused on managing counterparty, country, and FX risk to protect the capital of investors and online lenders. Prior to that, they served as a Business Development Advisor at SkillLab, supporting the management team in identifying opportunities and negotiating deployments to assist marginalized groups in the Americas.

David also has a background in finance, having worked at J.P. Morgan as an Associate in Sovereign Advisory, where they provided expertise to public sector clients on sovereign credit ratings and balance sheet optimization. David also worked as an Analyst in Credit Risk, analyzing clients and transactions to ensure risk exposure remained within the acceptable range.

In addition, David has experience in research and project management, having worked as a Research Fellow at the Inter-American Development Bank, collaborating with teams to obtain financing for development projects in Latin America. David also served as a Fellow at Kiva, consulting with microfinance institution partners to maximize their financing opportunities.

David's early experience includes serving as President and Co-Founder of Young Trade Professionals at the Washington International Trade Association and working as a Supervisor in Excursion Guide at the University of California, Los Angeles. David also interned at the United States Conference of Mayors and served as a Page in the U.S. House of Representatives.

David Gorgani holds a Master of Arts (MA) degree in International Economics with concentrations in International Finance and Development from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), which they completed from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science, magna cum laude, from UCLA between 2004 and 2008. Additionally, they have obtained various certifications including the Ability to Execute (A2E) Lead Journey from McKinsey & Company in 2023, the FSA Credential Level II Candidate from SASB - Sustainability Accounting Standards Board in 2019, Wilderness/Remote Location First Aid from NOLS Wilderness Medicine in June 2019, and Securities and UK Financial Regulation from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment in May 2014.
