John J. Sweeney

John J. Sweeney is an experienced wine professional with extensive expertise in fine and rare wines. Currently serving as a Buyer in the Old & Rare Wines, Library Wine & Auction Department at K&L Wine Merchants since June 2017, John specializes in the acquisition and sale of collectible wines. As the Owner and Winemaker at Galatea Effect Fine Wine and a Partner at Vino Capital Partners since 2010, John focuses on producing high-quality wines from premier California vineyards. Prior to these roles, John held significant positions at JJ Buckley Fine Wines, excelling as a Senior Fine Wine Specialist, and at Oracle, where an emphasis was placed on innovative talent management. A foundational background in wine sales and management was established at Restaurant Zibibbo, complemented by an internship at Colgin Cellars. John holds a B.S. in Wine Business, Sales, Marketing, Viticulture, and Enology from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo.
