John Murray has a diverse and extensive work experience. John is currently working as an Engineering Manager at Klarna since January 2022. Prior to that, they took a sabbatical from August 2021 to December 2021.

One of their notable roles was as the CTO at Leadhome, a proptech startup, where they built and led the product and engineering division from 2016 to July 2021. John successfully developed ground-breaking products, including a real estate automation and management system, and customer-facing digital tools used by over 150k users per month.

John also had experiences working at Google Launchpad as a Mentor from October 2018 to June 2019, FanAngel™ as a Senior Software Engineer from July 2015 to April 2016, and as a Freelance Software Engineer, working with US clients via Toptal and Upwork from July 2015 to March 2016.

John also held the position of Senior Software Engineer & Team Lead at MiX Telematics from February 2013 to June 2015, where they were responsible for the development and maintenance of the company's SaaS platform. Additionally, they worked as a Software Developer at New Media Labs from February 2011 to February 2013, where they handled bespoke software development for various clients.

John's early career started at New Horizons, where they initially worked as a Web Developer from February 2008 to January 2011. Later, they also took on the role of a Trainer, teaching courses in HTML, CSS, introductory programming, PHP & MySQL, C#, ASP.NET, and SQL Server during the same period.

Overall, John Murray has extensive experience in leadership, software engineering, product development, and mentoring in various industries and organizations, making him a valuable asset in their current role as an Engineering Manager at Klarna.

John Murray attended the University of Cape Town from 2004 to 2006, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, and Economics. However, they did not complete their degree. In 2007, they enrolled at Stellenbosch University to study Electronic Engineering but did not finish the program. In 2008, John attended New Horizons Cape Town to further their education in Web Development and Database Design & Administration. John obtained additional certifications, including MCPD: Web Developer from Microsoft in May 2008, and MCTS in April 2008.
