Carsten Wintermann has a diverse work experience in the field of paper conservation and art technology. In 2004, they started their own company, papierrestaurierungdresden, where they provided restoration services for collections in museums, as well as conducted non-destructive examinations and analyses of paper. In 2008, Wintermann worked as a Paper Conservator at the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, where they participated in a research project on Dutch drawings from the 16th century. Since 2017, they have served as the Head of Material Analysis and Art Technology in Paper Conservation at Klassik Stiftung Weimar.
Carsten Wintermann pursued their education from 1999 to 2004 at Cologne University of Applied Sciences. During this time, they obtained a degree in Dipl.-Rest. with a focus on Papierrestaurierung.
