Jan Butzner

Jan Butzner has a diverse background in UX design, product development, and consulting. From 2020 to the present, they have worked at kloeckner.i GmbH, where they contributed to the company's digital transformation through comprehensive user research and redesigning the Kloeckner Assistant Interface for improved usability.

From 2009 to the present, Jan has been freelancing at EinsKomma618, providing expertise in UX and graphic design, product development, and strategy consultation. Jan has worked with various clients on customer/user experience, branding, and corporate innovation.

In 2019-2020, Jan worked as a Principal Designer and Product Development at Ampolon Ventures, where they identified innovation potential in the longevity economy through research and analysis. Jan utilized design thinking methods and design sprints to develop prototypes and validate value propositions.

From 2017 to 2019, Jan was the Lead UI/UX Designer at shine, where they proposed a user-centric product strategy and led the redesign and development of multiple applications. Jan also built and managed the design team.

From 2013 to 2017, Jan worked at MYTOYS GROUP as a Senior UI/UX Designer, redesigning the mytoys.de webshop platform and creating a modular design system. Jan also worked as a Digital Product Designer during this period.

In 2009-2010, Jan worked as a Frontend & Grafikdesigner at Basketball Academy Berlin, where they helped set up the website, created print and merchandising products, and developed the brand identity.

Before that, Jan had experience as an Apple Pro Apps Consultant & Sales at M&M Trading Apple Premium Reseller from 2007 to 2009, and as a Store Manager and IT Sales Consultant at K&M Electronics from 2005 to 2007.

Jan Butzner began their education journey in 1978, focusing on philosophy, design, and personal development through their self-driven pursuit of knowledge. In 2000, they enrolled at the Freie Universität Berlin to study Germanistische Linguistik, specializing in linguistics, and completed their studies in 2003.

Continuing their passion for learning, in 2003, Jan Butzner attended the SAE Institute Berlin to gain expertise in audio engineering.

In 2011, they pursued a degree in Kommunikationsdesign at the IHK Berlin, which they completed in 2013 and obtained the certification for Mediengestalter Digital/Print.

Jan Butzner's interest in design and innovation led them to further their education. They completed a specialization in Information & Interaction Design at UC San Diego, starting in 2017. They also enrolled in a User Experience & Interaction Design program at The Interaction Design Foundation in 2016.

In 2019, they expanded their knowledge by attending multiple educational institutions. They acquired an Online Specialization in Design Thinking for Innovation from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. In addition, they studied Innovation Management at Leeds University Business School. They also pursued a Micro Masters™ in Corporate Innovation at The University of Queensland, which they completed in 2022.
