Jim Ervin has over 25 years of experience in the technology industry, with a focus on networking and system design. Jim is currently the CTO at Kloudspot, and previously held distinguished positions at Cisco Systems and IBM.
Ervin began their career at IBM in 1990, working as a system designer for the company's first bridge and router devices. Jim was responsible for designing and implementing the first firmware to control IBM's Token Ring network. Jim's software was later adopted as an IEEE standard.
In 1999, Ervin left IBM to join Cisco Systems. Jim quickly rose through the ranks to become a Distinguished Engineer, and played a key role in the design of Cisco's high-end routers, load balancers, and WAN compression products. Jim also played a major role in Cisco's Service Chaining architecture for routers, switches, and WiFi products.
In 2017, Ervin left Cisco to join Kloudspot as CTO. In this role, they are responsible for leading the company's engineering and product development efforts.
