Valerie McElroy

Valerie McElroy is an accomplished music educator and conductor with extensive experience in various musical roles. As Program Manager and Conductor at the San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory since April 2022, Valerie oversees repertoire selection and community engagement for wind ensembles, while also leading the Opus program partnership. Valerie serves as a Flute Clinician for the San Diego Flute Retreat, facilitating workshops and masterclasses for adult flutists, and is a Co-Founder of Connessa Collective, focusing on innovative chamber music programs. Additionally, Valerie works as Ensemble Director and Flute Teaching Artist at Villa Musica, coordinates a private music studio, and has held previous teaching positions in various educational settings including band and general music. Valerie holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from DePaul University.
