Piek Vossen

Piek Vossen is an accomplished academic and professional in the fields of computational linguistics and language technology. As an Executive Board Member at The Hybrid Intelligence Centre and a full-time Professor of Computational Lexicology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Vossen leads research on understanding language by machines and oversees the Computational Linguistics & Terminology Lab. Vossen co-founded and currently presides over the Global WordNet Association, facilitating collaboration on wordnets globally. Additional roles include membership in the KNAW, KHMW, and The Network Institute, along with serving as a Spinoza laureate from NWO. Vossen's previous experience includes positions as CTO at Irion Technologies and senior manager at Sail Labs, focusing on semantic technology development. Vossen's educational background includes a PhD with honors in Linguistics from the University of Amsterdam.
