Anthony Picarello

Anthony Picarello currently serves as Supreme Advocate for the Knights of Columbus since June 2025. Prior to this role, Anthony held the position of Executive Director at the Saint John Paul II National Shrine from August 2023 to July 2025. From January 2012 to August 2023, Anthony was Associate General Secretary and General Counsel for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), after serving as General Counsel from September 2007 to January 2012. Anthony also held the title of Vice President and General Counsel at the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty from June 2000 to August 2007 and worked as an Associate at Covington & Burling from October 1996 to May 2000. Anthony’s educational background includes a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law (1995), an AM in Religious Studies from the University of Chicago (1992), and an AB in Social Anthropology and Comparative Religion from Harvard University (1991).
