In a 35 year career with appliance manufacturer Whirlpool Corp, Jerry held officer-level globally responsible executive positions in operations and manufacturing. This included six years living and working at the northern Italy European headquarters, where he was in charge of all operations of the European business. In these roles, he ran a number of multi-billion dollar global businesses. Jerry was elected President of the 15,000 members international Institute of Industrial Engineers (their professional society) for 2004-2005, where he also served a term on the Board of Trustees (2003 - 2006).
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Jerry Weinstein is an engineer by education. Jerry received a BE (Mechanical) degree from The City College of New York and an MSIE degree from Purdue University. He obtained a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue with research on the theory and control of a steelmaking process. Purdue University recognized him as a “Distinguished Engineering Alumnus” in 1993. He has been a Lecturer at Michigan State University and has served on advisory boards for a number of colleges and universities. Jerry has published several articles and co-authored the book, "Computers in Manufacturing" (1977). He relocated to RI in 2009, where he runs a small private investment company focused on early-stage companies.
