Mario Alvarez

Mario Alvarez is an experienced purchasing professional with a strong background in global category management, currently serving as the Head of Global Category Purchasing Metals at Knorr-Bremse since February 2007. In this role, Mario oversees a global team responsible for supplier development and the complex product portfolio within the organization. Previous positions at Knorr-Bremse include Director of Global Purchasing, where Mario coordinated value analysis/value engineering projects, managed supplier development, and chaired quality escalation committees. Mario has also held the role of Global Category Director for Stamping, Machining, and Forging, focusing on purchasing strategies and supplier negotiations, and started as Purchasing Manager leading a small team with significant purchasing volume. Prior to Knorr-Bremse, Mario worked at Valeo as a purchaser leader for plastics and rubber components. Mario holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Escuela Universitaria Politecnica de Malaga.
