Ritchie Po has a diverse range of work experience spanning over a decade. Ritchie began their career as a Legal Writer for Carswell, a Thomson Reuters business, and later transitioned into a role as an Articled Student at CGM Lawyers. Ritchie then worked as an Associate Lawyer at Vanguard Law Group LLP before becoming a Corporate Trust Officer at Computershare Canada.
In 2008, Ritchie joined The Peak Group of Companies as an Associate Counsel, where they provided legal expertise. Ritchie later joined TELUS Business Solutions as a Security Compliance & Privacy Consultant, where they focused on privacy and security compliance.
Ritchie's experience continued to grow when they joined WorkSafeBC as a Senior Access to Information & Privacy Officer. Here, they provided legal advice on privacy matters and conducted privacy impact assessments, among other responsibilities.
Their next role was at Retail Insider, where they served as a Contributing Editor, conducting research and writing for the retail industry publication.
Ritchie then ventured into a self-employed position as a Barrister & Solicitor, establishing their own legal practice. In this role, they focused on privacy and technology law, providing advice on privacy-focused projects and software acquisition.
Most recently, Ritchie joined Kobalt.io as the Privacy Practice Lead. In this role, they serve as a privacy subject matter expert and lead consultant for SMB clients. Ritchie conducts privacy gap assessments, provides compliance advice, and reviews the collection and use of personal data.
Throughout their career, Ritchie has demonstrated expertise in privacy, technology, and legal research. Ritchie has worked with clients in industries such as technology, health, biochemical, finance/accounting, retail, and non-profit.
Ritchie Po obtained a Workplace Mental Health Leadership Program Certificate from Queen's University in 2017. Prior to that, they received a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree from the University of Alberta from 2000 to 2003. Before pursuing their law degree, Ritchie earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English Literature (British and Commonwealth) from The University of British Columbia, where they studied from 1996 to 2000.
In addition to their academic achievements, Ritchie Po holds several certifications. Ritchie obtained the Certified Information Privacy Professional - Europe (CIPP/E) certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) in August 2020. Ritchie also earned the Certified Information Privacy Professional - Canada (CIPP/C) certification from IAPP in August 2008. Furthermore, Ritchie is a Practising Member of the Law Society of British Columbia, a status they achieved in August 2005.
