Kawai Washburn is a software engineer with over a decade of experience in a variety of roles, from fullstack engineering to backend system development and service automation. He has worked in wide-ranging operating environments, from siloed bare-metal linux clusters backing a handful of monolith applications to global container orchestration platforms serving hundreds of thousands of concurrent requests per second, at companies that include Palantir Technologies, Digital Ocean, and Apple. In addition to his software engineering experience, Kawai has worked in public policy econometric analysis, international microfinance, climate policy advocacy, and as a teacher of math, english, and vocational computer studies. He is also a published author, with a novel that was included in many “best of” lists of 2020.

Kawai received his Bachelors in Computer Science from the University of Portland and his Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University.
