Rajarshi Chakrabarti is a Senior Partner and heads the Mumbai office of Kochhar & Co.

Raj’s practice focuses on corporate commercial transactions with emphasis on regulatory environment and risk mitigation. He has substantial experience in mergers & acquisitions (in-bound and out-bound), joint ventures, technical collaborations, business and assets restructuring. He regularly advises large foreign corporations including Fortune 500 companies on a wide range of issues concerning their Indian operations. Rajarshi has assisted clients across diverse sectors such as financial services, private equity and venture capital, engineering, retail, biotechnology, telecom, e-commerce, IT and ITES.

Raj’s rich experience of over two decades includes managing complex litigations and negotiations relating to shareholder disputes, large contractual claims and proceedings instituted by regulatory agencies. He has significant expertise in liaison and advocacy with regulatory and law enforcement authorities. He also regularly advises clients on employment law issues, ethics & policy and matters pertaining to white-collar crimes.

In his previous avatar as a corporate in-house counsel, Raj had been part of the legal leadership teams of one of India’s largest private telecom companies as well as the biggest media & entertainment group. He played an instrumental role in advising senior management on high-stake and complex matters including business restructuring, corporate governance issues, regulatory risks and mitigation measures.

Raj is a frequent speaker on diverse Indian law issues. Amongst others, he has spoken on topics such as Mergers & Acquisitions in India, Doing Business in India, Enforcement of IPR and Indian Judicial System. He has also conducted workshops for corporates both in India and overseas.

Raj obtained an Honours degree in Arts and Law from the prestigious National Law School of India University in Bangalore.
