Tom Pogson is an experienced professional with extensive background in employment, training coordination, and marine programs. Currently serving as the Employment and Training Coordinator for the Kodiak Area Native Association since February 2017, Tom focuses on employment services for Native tribes in the Koniag region and has supported Native youth through a youth employment and training program. As the Director of Marine Programs at Island Trails Network, Tom has organized multiple marine debris removal initiatives in Kodiak, overseeing budget and outreach efforts. Additionally, Tom operates the Alaska Kayak School, emphasizing sea kayaking instruction and safety, while holding a long-standing dealership for quality watersports clothing. Tom has contributed to various publications, including Ocean Paddler Magazine, and has experience as a long-term substitute teacher in the Kodiak Island Borough School District. Tom holds an M.S. in Wildlife Biology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and a B.A. in Biology from Lewis & Clark College.
