Margarita Cherikbaeva

Margarita Cherikbaeva has a diverse work experience in the banking and finance industry. Margarita began their career in 2003 with ProCredit Banks/IPC programs, where they held various management positions. In 2006, they became the Country Director for EBRD Micro and Small Finance Facility at Internationale Projekt Consult (IPC). Margarita then joined ProCredit Holding as the Executive Director of ProCredit Bank Sierra Leone from 2008 to 2009. In 2010, they worked at ProCredit Mexico as a Senior SME Lending Consultant. From 2011 to 2015, they served as the Chief Operating Officer at FINCA International. Their most recent role was with FINCA Bank Kyrgyzstan, where they served as the CEO from 2015 to 2018. In 2018, they joined Kompanion Bank as the CEO.

Margarita Cherikbaeva is currently a DBA student at the Paris School of Business, starting in 2020 and expected to graduate in 2023. Prior to this, they completed a Graduate Diploma of American Banking School Stonier at the University of Pennsylvania from 2014 to 2017. Margarita also holds a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Trier, Germany, which they obtained from 2000 to 2002. In addition to their degrees, they have obtained several certifications including "Strategy in Financial Services in the Digital Age" from INSEAD Executive Education in 2019, "Leading the Agile Workforce Transformation" from Harvard Business School in 2019, "The Wharton Leadership Program" from The Wharton School in 2017, and "Strategic Response to Risk in Microfinance Markets" from IFC WORLD BANK GROUP USA in 2016.
